The Castor and Polux Temple

The cult of the diascus spread in all Greek colonies, both in Sicily and Rome. In the Roman empire, the imprisoned had to take Castor and Polux’s oath in court. The men swore on Polux, and the women on Castor.

It is the constellation known as ” Gemini ”, which appears on the vault in May. Their round helmines evoke the eggs from which the two boys were born. Poseidon also gave the dios the right to command the winds and waves of the sea, to protect the sailors during the storms, and to be able to escape death.

In Sicily, the Hellenes built a famous temple, in the village of Agrigente, dedicated to the dioceses. In this temple, every year, in the fragrant season when almonds bloom, there were glorious holidays. Then came the singing, dancing and poetry poems to show their craftsmanship under the dear friends. People have always stirred understanding and peace, and here, in the Castor and Polux Temple, once again some lyrics were spoken by Bakchilyde, the Greek poet. It is said that in their childhood, the two lived for a while in the realms of Macedonia, on the north side of Greece. They are known in stories and poems, not only the sons of Tindar, Lede’s legendary husband, but also Zeus’s sons.

The legend of Leda and Lebada, in which Zeus had turned to deceive Sparta’s wife, was carved and painted by artists many times.

When the storms broke out, there were often many shadows on the sea around the mast, the highest part of the ship. These are, as we can see, only the last electric discharge. Old seafarers could not comprehend this phenomenon, science had not yet discovered electricity, they would explain by crafting legends about Castor and Polux, who asked Zeus during a storm to help them.
