How can an electric motor be adapted?

Nowadays, we can define the electric motor as the element that puts everything in motion. Technology is so designed to ease human effort, and so electric motors serve this purpose for more than two centuries. Each electric motor has specifications and features that define it, depending on the purpose of use, the environment in which it works, the application for which it is used, and so forth. 

The customization of an electric motor becomes a primary objective, as the same nominal torque or the same power can not be used in totally different situations. The operation of a conveyor belt or escalator system requires different specifications of the electric motors than the complex ones used in the ventilation systems or the very simple ones that act on the appliances.
In the majority of cases, it is a variant of making electric motors in limited series, which perfectly fit the needs. When it comes to complete industrial solutions, such personalization can be costly, may have an unfavorable relationship in terms of the cost of the investment and the returns offered. A simpler solution can be in this case the choice for a gearbox or a mechanical speed variator.
There are as many things about worm gear reducers as other types of reducers – orthogonal, planetary or coaxial.
The criteria for selecting a reducer involves both the power it offers and the reduction ratio or torque needed to defeat the inertia of the load. There are multiple customization variants using worm gear reducers – for example power ratings range from 0.09 to 7.5 kW. At the same time, reduction ratios can be offered from 7 to 100 times. The nominal couples offered by a worm gear reducer range from 26 to 640 Nm, thus covering all requirements.
All these aspects need to be highlighted when it is necessary to customize an electric motor with a worm gear or other type. The environment in which it operates may require additional protection against dust, moisture, corrosive substances or extreme temperatures or with large variations. Under these circumstances, knowing all the characteristic elements, it is possible to make the desired adjustment of the electric motor by means of gearboxes and / or speed variators.
